My research interests contribute towards an understanding of global health, its constitutive parts, it’s governance, it’s influence and its meaning in today’s interconnected world.

My previous research focused on the role and function of expert groups contributing towards global health science and technology governance through Intergovernmental Organizations. As a part of the GlobHealth project, I aim to draw out the dynamics contributing towards global health and put into critical focus the social networks and knowledge-production processes that shape healthcare settings in their local contexts and that produce particular understandings of health and disease. My own research focuses on the Cuban Genetics Program as one such local setting and service delivery focus and, in addition, extends the examination of the local/global interactions by focusing on the WHO and PAHO.
