Research
Lucile Ruault (PhD, Political Sociology) is an ERC-funded Postdoctoral Fellow with GLOBHEALTH at the CERMES3. Her research interests sit at the intersection of the sociology of health, the history of medicine, gender studies and the sociology of social movements. She examined the underpinnings of reproductive bodies’ contemporary regulation, through a doctoral work which deals with the conditions of both medicalization and feminist appropriation of care and abortive practice in the 1970s and 1980s. Her research within the GLOBHEALTH project focuses on the history of medical genetics and its inclusion among the devices of the "global" health government. In order to analyze the inscription of genetics on the agenda of the WHO, it investigates the various WHO Genetics Committees and the circulations of knowledge, personnel, tools and concepts that grounded this expertise. It is also concerned with the construction and the future of local and national genetic programs since 1980.
