Research

My work is at the intersection of anthropology and science and technology studies, with a strong interest in the collaboration with artists, as research methodology and as way of rendering research insights accessible to people beyond academia. I am interested in the study of chemicals as ethnographic objects, on the affective and embodied apprehension of the environmental crisis, and on the intersections of environmental and reproductive justice. Before joining the CERMES3 I completed a PhD in anthropology at the University of Amsterdam on young environmental activism around everyday toxicity –often articulated as the presence of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in mundane objects and activities¬– in a dozen urban centers across France.

My current two-year postdoctoral project focuses on the ways young women negotiate environmentalist and feminist sensibilities in their striving for a ‘chemical-free’ contraception. This research also takes place in urban France. Research insights will be shared though articles and a web-based documentary.
